ucas 250pxUCAS is the centralised service provider for all students applying for UK universities and some apprenticeships (with the exception of students applying to art colleges to do a foundation year).
Students will apply with support from their sixth form mentors and Mrs Linton.

unifrog logo 212pxThis year students have the added benefit of using the Unifrog platform. The online service allows them to search for universities and courses, make shortlists and provides guidance on the writing of personal statements, as well as providing support for higher level apprenticeship applications.

In terms 1 and 2 of Year 13, students receive guidance through the mentoring system and the sixth form office to search for suitable universities and complete personal statements using the above platforms

Open days

Students will require support from home to research suitable locations, types of universities and suitable courses. This link will provide up to date information about open days and virtual open days.  However, due to the recent introduction of this process it is advisable to check university websites too.

These are posted on Google Classroom – registration is essential.

Dane Court Sixth Form 2022-23

boar drop shadow alpha trans 100pxOn Wednesday 23 February, we were delighted to welcome nearly 100 Year 11 students from local schools to Dane Court. Our senior team spent a very enjoyable evening in one to one meetings with some very talented, ambitious and impressive young people, who were keen to discuss the International Baccalaureate course most-suited to them. In an increasingly competitive university and work environment for young people, it is little wonder that more Year 11s than ever before are keen to enrol on the most extensive and flexible programme of sixth form study available anywhere in the UK. With 940 hours of direct teaching time per academic year available at Dane Court, the IB continues to enhance its global reputation as the world's elite further education qualification.

We are delighted that so many local young people are keen to study with us, and It is no surprise that the majority are set on the IB Diploma, a programme with a track record of helping 40% of its students achieve a place at a top university, compared to 24% of their A level counterparts. It is likewise no surprise that the IB Careers Programme, which prepares students equally well for university, salaried degree apprenticeships, or a wide range of other paid higher level apprenticeships or work opportunities, continues to prove such an attractive alternative proposition.

We were very impressed with the quality of applicants from other schools in the area, and we were delighted to make conditional offers of places to over 60 students last week. This means that next year, the Dane Court sixth form will be a more vibrant, exciting and popular place to be than ever before, and it is not too late to be a part of it. If you would like to make a late application or arrange a meeting to discuss Dane Court sixth form, please contact Miss Bowen via This email address is being protected from spambots. In the meantime, why not watch this video to hear from some of our former students about exactly where Dane Court and the IB can take you:

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships Logo

Applying for an apprenticeship is the equivalent of applying for a professional position or a university course. It requires careful research and planning of the application, however, unlike applying for university there are not set deadlines.  Apprenticeship applications will open and close throughout Year 13 and have to be applied for when they open.

Explaining apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is an opportunity for you to gain skills and a qualification, whilst earning a real salary.
Rather than paying for training or a degree, you are employed by an organisation who pay for your training in a nationally recognised qualification.
